About Ada

  • Ada Conroy

I’m Ada (she/her) and I have over 25 years of experience in the family violence sector in Victoria.

I’ve worked in family violence case management, crisis response, counselling, outreach, court support, intake, refuge, and training.

I spent 10 years leading a family violence workforce development team in the northern metro region and I am an experienced men’s behaviour change facilitator.

In private practice, I specialise in reflective practice clinical supervision (individual and group), training, consultation, facilitation, resource development and capacity building for those responding to adult victim-survivors and men who use violence.

I provide practice consultation and support to services across Australia and Aotearoa seeking to strengthen their family violence practice, build their ethics and politics into their work, enhance accountability, and reflect on their collective values.

I have a masters in Narrative Therapy and I’m a queer woman living on Wurundjeri Land.

‘Supervision with Ada has been transformative. I can now identify the values that guide my work and and use this understanding to manage workplace challenges as they arise. Ada’s support has allowed me to develop my practice frameworks and has facilitated career progression and personal growth’

“I just wanted to say a massive thank you for all your support! You are such an inspiration and a brilliant supervisor. I found our sessions incredibly useful and I particularly loved the narrative therapy form and spirit of advocacy you brought to the experience. It really worked for me. So many of your nuggets of wisdom have helped me make decisions when I've felt stuck - particularly in regards to choosing which battles are mine to fight and which to walk away from”

“I saw Ada for supervision for a number of years and felt so held, cared for, and challenged (in the best ways) and transformed in my work as a specialist family violence practitioner and generally. Through my work with Ada, I have been able to embody the values and visions I held for myself as a practitioner with confidence, without neglecting my growing-edges. Ada offers such depth, rigour, accountability, accessibility, discernment, and power-sharing to conversations and her work. Ada offers this seamlessly without compromising warmth, humour, being a person, and many very appreciated pop-cultural references. Ada allowed me to feel safe enough to explore my rough bits, without ever letting me forget my more refined parts. Thank you, Ada!”
